Kids in the Studio Policy

Most of our studio’s classes are 18+, because we believe:

  • Adults and children have very different learning needs. We want adult hobbyists to be able to explore styles of movement that are new to them in a place they feel comfortable.

  • Kids’ dance should be developmentally appropriate. We offer “sexier” styles of dance like burlesque, and allow profanity in music for our adult classes.

That being said, we ALSO believe it’s so, so important for parents (especially stay-at-home parents) to have a creative outlet and an identity outside of caretaking. And saying “just leave your kids at home!” doesn’t make that accessible.

So here’s where we’ve landed:

  • Unless otherwise specified, all classes are for adults only (18+). Your kids are welcome to wait in the lobby, but will not be allowed into the studio for class.

  • There ARE a few instances where kids are welcome, as outlined below. For any class where kids may be present, we have stricter guidelines for instructors to ensure content is appropriate for all ages (e.g. no profanity in music).

  • You are more than welcome to bring your kids to classes marked ***👶 Kids Welcome***. The class is mainly for parents/adults, but kids can dance along if they want to, play on their own, or just hang out on the chairs with an iPad. You do NOT need to register your kids for the class (only yourself) and there is no fee for bringing them.

  • Classes marked with a specific age range, e.g. ***Ages 3-5*** or ***Ages 14-18*** are for that range only. You must register your kids for these classes.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

We are also actively seeking partners that would allow us to offer pay-as-you-go childcare for all classes at our studio. We don’t have the space or expertise to do it ourselves, but are very interested in making this happen! Please let us know if you have any ideas or recommendations.
